1st birthday cake
by Sherry
Baby Girl
I made this cake when our little girl had her first birthday. The little blond pigtails were an inspiration when I put pigtails in her hair one day. Here's how I made the cake. Form: Wilton Baby Bear Cake Pan Pigtails: straws covered in frosting (toothpicks would work but make sure they don't get eaten) Pastry Tip #825 star Make the cake according to box instructions (or from scratch). Once cake has cooled, cut the ears off and give to the baby to keep her busy while you frost the cake. Icing was box icing colored with icing colors and piped on with a disposable pastry bag. This is a pretty easy cake to make and gets a lot of oohs and aahs from grandparents and such at a first birthday party. If you want to take your cake baking skills to another level, then you should consider looking at a book and video course by Maddy Pearson.
