Baby Shower Boat

Baby Shower Boat
My sister in law was having a baby shower and I knew I had to create something really special. I came up with the boat idea after thinking about where they live, next to a lake, and thought this would be a perfect idea. Here are the basics: Sail was made of paper and a bamboo skewer. People are just little tykes people from my son's toy house. Smarties were the portholes. Toothpicks and string were the railing. Goldfish Snacks were the little fish I used two 9" square pans to make the base (ocean) and the boat. I cut the boat into an elongated oval and that was the boat part. The rest was just simply box icing with icing coloring. Icing was spread on the cake with a spatula. I didn't need a pastry bag to make this cake. If you want to take your cake baking skills to another level, then you should consider looking at a book and video course by Maddy Pearson.
