easy "in the night garden" cake
I made my daughter this cake for her 2nd birthday. She absolutely adores in the night garden especially upsy daisy. This cake is so easy to make and is perfect for those who aren't that creative but want to have a go at making a special cake for a loved one. This cake method can be altered to use for any special occasion . Firstly you need to make a simple sponge cake I made a chocolate. You will need 6oz butter/marg 6oz caster/brown sugar 6oz self raising flour 3 eggs 1 heaped tablespoon of chocolate powder/cocca Firstly cream sugar and butter together Then Add the eggs Stir in flour and chocolate powder Split mixture into 2 round cake tins Bake for 15-20 mins For filling You will need 1 TB spoon of jam 3oz of butter/marg 8oz of icing sugar once the cakes have cooled spread the jam over of the top of one half cake cream butter and icing sugar together spread over the cake then sandwich the 2 halves together. I brought some ready made icing. Roll out the icing and cover the cake trimming away any excess. Place some coloured ribbon around the cake Then stick sugar flowers around the cake using a small amount of icing as glue. Then place the night garden figures on top of the cake, using some icing to glue them in place. Then using some pipe icing (shop brought) spell out the name of the child. Lastly place in the candle(s) Place in the future for a least 2 hours to cool and set Before serving. If you want to take your cake baking skills to another level, then you should consider looking at a book and video course by Maddy Pearson.
